Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus and the island’s largest city, located in the central Mesaoria Plain. It’s known for its well-preserved Venetian walls and historic old town, and it’s also notable as Europe’s last divided capital, with a UN buffer zone separating the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot sectors. Despite this, Nicosia has a lively mix of museums, cafés, and cultural events that reflect its rich, layered history.
